The Story

You know about Big Brothers Big Sisters...or maybe you don't.

What we can share is that the Community Based BBBS program matches a
caring adult in the community with a child in need of a mentor. They
meet at least once a month for six hours.

What we can share is that in the Site Based BBBS program, high school
students volunteer one hour a week during or after school to spend with
an elementary school student who needs a mentor. These are freshman,
sophomores, juniors and seniors who are giving up a part of their week
to spend time with a child.

What we know is that this is not the whole story.

We know that lives are changed, because this program in Oxford and
Androscoggin County in Maine serves over 600 individuals. We know that
people give of their time in ways that should be celebrated because one
Big Sister, Katie, has mentored 8 Littles throughout her high school
career. She's amazing by the way!

We know that children are succeeding, in school, in relationships, at
home, with parents, with siblings, with friends, because teachers and
Bigs and parents and the Littles themselves tell us each year with
stories and through annual evaluations of each match.

We know that the hours of time spent together is only part of the story,
because the time spent recruiting, screening, interviewing, training and
supporting the Bigs is done by fantastic dedicated professionals who
work hard everyday to ensure that each match is the right one, that each
match has the opportunity to be successful.

For us, the Hatches, this is personal in so many ways and we would
appreciate any support that you would show this incredible program.

Please consider sponsoring our Bowling Team for Bowl For Kids' Sake 2009
